"Here, on the Island of Sodor, we share many stories together since the first monks came here." - Sir Charles Topham Hatt

Sodor, UK is, as of Summer 2024, a pet project that I am currently working on to diversify my taste in creating comics and illustrations. Based on The Railway Series by the Rev. Wilbert Awdry and Britt Allcroft's Thomas the Tank Engine TV series, I adored the rural British aesthetic and how there are a diverse cast of characters (specifically, the engines) that come from different areas of the British Isles. A few examples include Duck, who hails from the West Country and Great Western Railway, and Gordon, the Express engine who has that upper-class Londoner vibe.

Thus, I created a few human designs based on the engines of Sodor, and Sodor, UK was born! Feel free to check out the main cast of characters to this fan project, and even the setting lore based on Awdry's lore. ^^

Summary

The main timeline is the mid-century, that being the late 1950s and early 1960s, just in time as the Beatles first rose to fame. After working on the farm and the Great Western Railway for a good 30-odd years, Duck applies for a job on the county and island of Sodor. There, he would first meet Percy, James, Henry, and Gordon. Though the friendship with him and Percy grew easily, it was hard for the trio to get along with him at first. Duck reunites with Cecil, a friend and WW2 veteran who works as a barkeep at Tidmouth Pub, and also finds love with Donald Finlay. At the time, homosexuality is considered taboo, but both Duck and Donald aren't afraid to show it off.

Because the Island of Sodor is part of the UK, the characters may visit and/or live in many other parts. These might include York, Somerset, London, Liverpool, and Scotland.
